Asked for oil change, windscreen wiper hose plug and investigation of intermittent airconditioner stopping issue.
Oil change done and appreciated. $60
Wiper fluid hose plug - wanted $13 for a $3 plug- not done, no explanation on pickup.
Airconditioner inspection conducted at a cost of $109 (price not mentioned up front - but not charged following discussion) with the recommendation to get a new compressor at the cost of $2k or alternately $300 to regas when was re-gassed 12months ago per sticker in engine bay.
Minimal online research (swedespeed) and a 5 minute inspection showed ac clutch gap to be the issue (common in modern volvos) . fix under $200 for new clutch and install or $20 by shim gap fix.
Disappointed that with multiple services and expensive maintenance conducted in the past doesn't warrant loyalty enough to give the most economical option but seeks to take advantage of less knowledgeable clientele.
The expectation that a 1 hour inspection with no concrete diagnosis and the only options being the 2 most expensive fixes (neither the cause) when claiming to be the experts in volvos and better alternative to the dealer is difficult to accept in this scenario.
In future please provide clientele with all available options of repair and be upfront with costs prior to commencement. I understand a business needs to make money but not at the expense of loyalty and trust.
